Poverty

Interesting the number of people below the poverty level reduced for 7 straight years between 1993 and 2000, and now the number of people below povery has increased for the last 4 years. But Bush keeps telling me that the economy is getting better? seems like contradictions. does improving economy mean that profits are up for a few companies that get billion dollar contracts without bidding? Cause to me the strenght of the economy is based on number of unemployed, people in poverty, and maybe gross national average income. Im not an economist but the strenght of the economy has almost nothing to do with the profits of multi-nationals. the majority of people are employed by small businesses anyway. hmmm..... decreasing poverty untill 2000 then increasing after that, I wonder what could have happened. hmm.. what happened in 2000 to change the economy, well i suppose there was a presidential election that year. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

There's other good stuff in this article too, i just picked out the part about poverty levels to talk about. Washington Post
