Heres the article, they dont mention my name but we all know that they read my post and decided they couldnt risk losing me to the republican party.

Iraq is not Vietnam

The difference between Iraq and Vietnam is Bush had a plan to get out of Vietnam.

that's not funny.
It would be funny if people werent dying.

Protest Slogans from Znet

The Protest

I wish i was there. its amazing how little coverage there was in the mainstream media. several hundred thousand people in DC and only one of the dozen 24 hour news networks covers it? c-span did, i was watching it. The raging grannies kick ass.
One sad/funny protester was a story of a guy riding his bike in front of the treasury building, with a portable PA system saying,
"Pay no attention to this building. It is the treasury. It is empty. It has been looted.

Not to supprising that almost every major news source mentioned the couple hundred pro-war protester that were also there. some of the articles gave equal time to both dispite one side haveing maybe 400 people and the other having at least 100,000 and some estimates as high as 500,000 but I can see why the get equal time... oh wait no no I cant.

I told my sister about wanting to go to the protest and she thought it was ironic that I couldnt afford to go because of the gas prices. shes right there is a cruel irony involved in that. But remeber the important thing is that the gas companies didnt lose any profits this year. thats a relief. I would have lost a lot of sleep if I found out that a few muti-billionaire ceo's didnt make quite as much this year. I can barely afford to drive to work, but the economy is booming? that's what O'rielly told me. so it must be true right?

Wow im still reading from thomas Paine's corner, really good stuff there right now. you should really chech it out.

Is this legal??

im really confused. This just doesnt make sence to me. Some how the republicans are senting letters to registered democrates and telling them that they are not legally registered. If the people don't fill out some form then the republicans can stop them from voting. Maybe im reading this wrong, I must be reading this wrong, there is no way that this can be legal in this country. Can anyone explain this to me? I guess I always assumed that no party could just tell people that they aren't allowed to vote. Im not sure how anyone outside of the government has that ability but it seems as if that is whats going on here.

Im going to be a republican

I have figured out my new calling in life. Ive decided to become a Republican. just wait it gets better. Of course this does mean that my soul will burn in hell for all of eternity but hey cant win em all. Im going to help on some campaigns. I think Ill start with helping Rick Santorum in PA, hes a powerfull republican douchbag and hes going to need some serious help in '06 so first Ill help there, get my feet wet in the game. Then I'll start managing a few campaigns for other senators untill I see a Presidential campaign that looks hopefull. I jump on the band wagon. oh, have to mention that it is critical to start at as high a level as your ineptitude will allow because if you start all the way at the bottom then youll never get to the top in time. So I help some tool get elected president, everyone with me so far? then he, or she, oh no were talking republicans so so this rich white christian man that I just helped get elected is now going to turn around and give me some pimp ass job that Im not even vaugly qualified for but I make some serious cash so its ok. This is why it critical that its a republican tool and a democrate, they at least occationaly go based on merit and I dont want to risk that. I cant afford an education and then try to find a job in the field, not with this economy.. So im thinking Secratary of Deffence. seems like a job that really doesnt require you to know your ass from a whole in the ground. And every time you take a shit you can think of the thousands of dollars that were spent on the fifty dollar toilet seat, thats gotta be fun for a while. Of course there is no consern about wasting billions of dollars, thats just expected. Then you get some nice greasy porkbarrel no-bid contracts to a few companies and they make a few extra billion in profit for the owners then when you return to the private sector those same companies might be willing to hook you up with another bogus job as a CEO or some thing and now your set for life. What a country, imagine it being rich for the rest of your life without ever having to do real work and without ever having to fill out annoying applications or even be compitent in your job. God Bless America (choked up, singel tear)

The Best and the Brightest
"We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did." –Rep. Richard Baker (R-LA)
This guy might not get reelected. of course all the people who dislike him are now scatered across the nation.

I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise." –Vice President Dick Cheney,
Um sorry this wasn't an exercise and if it was, you'll have to do it again cause you failed miserably. well thats not fair, cheney wasnt at the "exercise" so it not his fault....

"I have not heard a report of thousands of people in the convention center who don't have food and water." –Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff,
I still vote for public stoning in front of the super dome

"Last night, we showed you the full force of a superpower government going to the rescue." –MSNBC's Chris Matthews, Sept. 1, 2005
.....thats just sad

"It's totally wiped out. ... It's devastating, it's got to be doubly devastating on the ground." –President Bush, turning to his aides while surveying Hurricane Katrina flood damage from Air Force One, Aug. 31, 2005
I usually think that his stupidity is staged so that he looks down to earth but this makes me think hes at least a LD if not a bit MR.

"FEMA is not going to hesitate at all in this storm. We are not going to sit back and make this a bureaucratic process. We are going to move fast, we are going to move quick, and we are going to do whatever it takes to help disaster victims." -FEMA Director Michael Brown, Aug. 28, 2005
Good Idea

"Our Nation is prepared, as never before, to deal quickly and capably with the consequences of disasters and other domestic incidents." –FEMA Director Michael Brown, March 9, 2005
Well there was that one time in the past where we were better prepared, oh when was that.... oh yeah when certain positions were filled with people based on qualification instead of based on helping with political campains. Man i didnt think that much of clinton when he was in office but i really miss him now.

Judge Manson

This seems like a logical nomination for a supreme court justice, Charles Manson. Bush seems to think that the people guilty of crimes are the best suited to check and see if any crimes were commited. fox watching the hen house maybe? This is not an attack against Roberts incase any slow republicans are reading this. Roberts is a differnent matter altogther and not for this post. No this is an attack against the idea of putting bush in charge of over seeing what went wrong with Katrina, this is about republicans sorta looking into the Karl Rove teason issue, this is about Bush putting a texaco lawyer in charge of the Gas Price Gouging investigation. WTF can we just fire every politician and start over. throw out all the laws go back to the constitution and that thing we dont read any more oh whats it called, oh yeah the bill of rights. maybe start all overagain with those. get a whole new batch of congressmen and women. new leaders all around. Its like when your computer starts getting viruses. you put norton on it or mcaffe or what ever but eventually things get in past the checks and balances. files become corrupted and soon your congress, i mean computer cant even perform the most basic tasks. so you reformat it. You wipe everything clean and start over. It takes a little bit of time and effort, and you have to bear with not having a computer/government for alittle while but once its back up and running it runs so much quicker. I think its time to reformat the government.

Price Gouging

Wait theres price gouging going on at the gas pumps?? get the fuck outta here, theres no one in this nation that is so horrificly greedy that they would try to make a little (or a lot) of extra profit off of a national disaster? thats really low. Hell anyone that greedy should be tried for treason along side of karl rove. luckaly for us there is no one that sick with money addiction to stoop to the level of screwing the entire country durring a time of need. But just to be safe our fearless leader george is going to start an inverstigation to get to make sure that no one tried and dirthy tricks. Hes making sure to get the best man for the job too, he not going to risk using some random guy that helped on a past campain, oh no! no cronies here. He wants a man that knows the ins and outs of the system and doesnt have and conflict of interest. so obviously the first person you think of is Deborah Majoras who works for ChevronTexaco Corp. Obviously George's chief concern is to make sure that there was no immoral dealings going on, thats why he picked a cronie of big oil to check up on big oil, not a political cronie. He really is a great leader.

In case you havent had your morining cup of coffee there may have been a little sarcasm involved in this post.

Found a new site

pretty much what the title says. Its called and as you may guess its a slightly left leaning site, but what wrong with that? seems like a good site. ill add it to my links too. I suggest checking it out.

I agree with the Pope

The pope has released a press brief based on the findings of one of his arch bishops calling the poverty in america "shamefull"

"Many were struck by ... poverty, at times shameful, in rich America," Cordes told Vatican Radio.

"The weakness experienced by the United States faced with this
catastrophe" serves to "destroy all of our beliefs about self-sufficiency," the
Vatican official said. "Thus, for me, in the bad part of this event there is
also the hope, for many citizens, of seeing that the world is greater than the
United States," Cordes said.

Or as Bush put it "Heck of a job Brownie"

People voted for Bush? WHY? Oh thats right he was the one that could protect us during a disaster.....

DOD waste

Thomas Paines Corner
This is an interesting article, the Department of Defence cannot account for a trillion dollars. This obviously isnt from one year as there budget is only around 280 billion dollars a year plus 200 billion to lose a war. But a TRILLION DOLLARS since the birth of this country should be unacceptable. Apparently the accountants say they cannot audit the DOD because its just to much work. I bet you could easily pay for all the accountants you need if you could cut a few billion dollars of waste off the DOD's budget. hell a trillion dollars thats 50 billion dollars a year for the last 20 years. yeah I cant eve finish writing this. I hope these facts are incorrect, but who really knows? theres no accountablitiy for anyone in government. burn the liars.

A nation divided

How can this be? How can 5 years rip this nation apart? We have always had politicians therefore we have always had liars, so what is it about this administration that has caused such turmoil? Maybe it’s not the administrations fault maybe there was a growing rift in this country and they just happen to be on top when it really started to show. The country was quite split during the Clinton impeachment, which makes since because we were having a trial of our president. Although even at his worst he was still at a 43% approval (which actually was NOT during the trial), which is still better than bush’s current 36% approval rating. So maybe the Clinton trial deepened the groove between the progressives and the conservatives, this war, the economy, the growing gap between rich and poor, and now the Katrina debacle, has simply torn this country apart. We have three more years of this and then even when we get a new leader they had better do some great things if they want to succeed in unifying this nation. Bush had his moment to bring us together. After a national disaster most of the country immediately stood behind him. In times of need we want to believe in our leaders we want to help them. The rest of the world felt our pain with us, particularly all the nations than have had to deal with terrorism themselves. The world cried out with support. Unfortunately instead of using all of this internal and external support to try to capture the man responsible, we bombed a war torn nation that might have been harboring the criminal. This ruined much of our credibility, then we attacked a soveirgn nation that had nothing to do with this attack. At this point the world no longer supported us and much of the nation started having serious second thoughts. How could we let this happen? The nation was strong and proud while mourning. There were many angry people who immediately felt than we needed to bomb someone. But how can you want to inflict that kind of pain and suffering that we had just endured onto other people? How can you feel good about killing innocent people simply because our own innocent people were killed?
Think of the rage and hatred we felt here after the attack then think about living in Afghanistan. You have lived through a war with the soviets that lasted from 1979-1989 you finally have a little bit of peace. Of course you may not be to happy with the US because they trained a whole bunch of guerrilla fighters to fight off the Russians but at least they kept you from becoming a part of the soviet union so you may be on the fence about the US. Then after 12 year of rebuilding with the US helping to support your fundamentalist leaders, if you are a fundamentalist this may please you or it may anger you that your leaders would accept help from infidels. Then one of those American trained guerilla fighters who have been very well trained at how to inflict maximum damage with a minimal of cost decides that he wants to attack the US. He develops this plan for 5 years while training dozens of men. He then strikes with well-known consequences. And now for the crime of living in the same nation as a terrorist you are going to be killed, or maybe your child or parents. So where do you turn when the most powerful nation on earth decides that it hates you and starts bombing your neighborhood? You may be angry with the terrorists and go try to kill them, or you may be angry with the people who killed your family. Can we not understand why they would be filled with rage after having their cities leveled? We have two buildings destroyed and we were out for blood. They have their cities destroyed along with the entire infrastructure and their leaders taken or killed. Imagine how you would feel if you were in there shoes. If you lived here and you immediately wanted to bomb Afghanistan after 9/11 then think if you were in Afghanistan, would you not have those same feelings towards the US? If you are an American that supports the war, then imagine you lived in Afghanistan or Iraq, would you be a terrorist?
Of course this all started asking why this nation is so divided, I may have answered my own question by writing something that would clearly anger a lot of conservatives. So it goes.

where did I leave that billion?

How the fuck do you misplace a billion dollars? That’s what we've done in Iraq. I had heard a bout this a few times but finally say a decent report about it. Really how is there no investigation into what is possibly the largest theft in history? This is simply stealing with deadly consequences. A BILLION DOLLARS STOLEN WTF. read the article. We cannot survive as a nation if we allow the government to be so closely tied to big business. This Country will be destroyed if we continue on this path. I don’t know how long it will take but unless we change drastically, we will fall.

We can support the troops without supporting the President.

— Disgraced Republican Trent Lott, failing to support the U.S. president, during the Kosovo crisis.

St. Patricks Four

Im not sure how I didnt hear about these fine individuals before, But now that I have I hope to spread the word a bit. This all took part in upstate New York, yes there is more to New York than just one City, not far from where I live. It is quite a story and now these protesters are being tried for "conspiracy to impede an officer of the United States by threat, intimidation and force" which is a bit of a strech consitering it was a non-violent protest. They are being tried for these crimes after being aquited in an earlier trial. Please check out the website.
These people deserve metals in my book not court dates.
would bombing a country then be consitered conspiract to impede an officer by threat, intimidation and force? lets add that to bushs list of crimes.

Go fuck yourself Mr. Cheney

Anyone who hasnt seen the CNN clip of dick cheney in New Orleans a week after Katrina saying how great a reception he has had, to have a passer by yell the now famous words, "Go Fuck yourself Mr. Cheney, go fuck yourself" should watch it imediatly

But the point of this is that the doctor who spoke those elequent words was then arrested. He was let go after only 20 minutes because he had not broken any laws. I may have misspoke when I said arrested, but he was handcuffed by millitary police carrying M-16's which is an arrest in my book. go here for the complete story.

interesting idea

Not that I have anything against marching, but we've been marching for five frickin years now. We could march ourselves off the end of the fundamentalist flat earth for all the good it's doing.

People, you REALLY want to change things? A weeklong boycott of the American economy is what we need. If we could get even just 25% of the population of this country to participate in a weeklong boycott, where absolutely nothing but survival essentials were bought, and the minimum amount of utilities were used, no gas or big ticket items purchased what so ever, and this 25% also stayed away from movies and other social activities for that week, we would see those in power look up and take notice.

In a country that runs on unfettered capitalism, you don't wake the government up to your cause by marching, you wake it up by hitting it where it hurts, in the pocket.

I've been ready to do this for years, but there is no way, obviously, that I can do it alone. I guess I'm just really trying to get the idea out there, but think about it for a while and I'm sure you'll agree that it could very well work.

Posted by: Fenria on September 13, 2005 at 01:25AM

This came from a comment on huffington post

I think a week long general strike of every laborer in america would hurt even more.

To paraphrase a quote, because i cant remeber exact, " the worker with his hands in his pockets is the more powerfull than any leader" you get the idea anyway.

Why is it that the only Tax you get to vote for is the school budget? Why not vote for the military budget? Or better yet I wouldn’t mind paying taxes at all if I got to pick where my money went. Imagine being able to decide where your tax money goes. I guarantee that school budgets would skyrocket and military funding would drop. I might pay extra taxes if I could decide how it was spent.

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day. " It will be a great day when the schools have all the money they need and the air force has to hold a back sale to buy a bomber."

I have to give credit here Jello Biafra did a segement about this in one of his speaches.

38% approval

Why does even this much of the country still like him? Why don’t the democrats have the balls to start an impeachment trial? Maybe there waiting until after the midterm elections because they assume they will pick up a few seats. The media is doing better than they usually do, the transcript of the press corps going after the press secretary is great, but they still aren’t out for blood. Heads must roll. If I hear the words "blame game" come out of the leader of the free world, the most powerful man on earth again I think I'm going to snap. Blame game is he 12? Your with adults now georgie you can use your big boy words. Accountafuckingbility man that’s the word I’m thinking of criminally negligent homicide comes to mind occasionally too. How come the winners of a war don’t have to go through war crimes trials? and if it turns into a stalemate and we pull out then we didn’t really win so we can have one right? Can we get him for perjury if he lied to the entire country repeatedly but he wasn’t under oath because he's not stupid enough to go before a congressional hearing. How about treason? Id really like to see him tried for treason, I think Id throw a little party. How about a pubic stoning in New Orleans? He'd be thinking, man I haven't been stoned in New Orleans in a while, that might be fun.

This is an amazing story that everyone should read.

Interesting the number of people below the poverty level reduced for 7 straight years between 1993 and 2000, and now the number of people below povery has increased for the last 4 years. But Bush keeps telling me that the economy is getting better? seems like contradictions. does improving economy mean that profits are up for a few companies that get billion dollar contracts without bidding? Cause to me the strenght of the economy is based on number of unemployed, people in poverty, and maybe gross national average income. Im not an economist but the strenght of the economy has almost nothing to do with the profits of multi-nationals. the majority of people are employed by small businesses anyway. hmmm..... decreasing poverty untill 2000 then increasing after that, I wonder what could have happened. hmm.. what happened in 2000 to change the economy, well i suppose there was a presidential election that year. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

There's other good stuff in this article too, i just picked out the part about poverty levels to talk about. Washington Post

What a concept

Last year another nation was struck by a catagory 5 hurricane. they had to evacuate 1.5 million people. durring this hurricane though, no one died. where could this have been to be able to move that many people in short notice? must have been a rich and prosperius nation where the government is efficient enough and trusted enough to be able to get the people out of harms way. It must be a nation where the leaders actualy care about the lives of the common people. hmm.. where could this be? maybe japan? nope it would be call a typhoon anyway. think about that a country that not only learns about what damage may be caused by natural disasters but then does some thing about it. they came up with evacuation plans and then Practiced them! when they sent people to shelters the shelters had food water and even medical personel. thats silly it makes more sence just to sent them to a football field. Think about this when this country was hit there wasnt any looting. the people all felt like they were in it together, and they didnt have to wait 5 days for water so they didnt need to loot to survive. yes New Orleans was bad because of it geography but things didnt have to happen the way they did. This great country was able to have its leaders get on TV and other media and tell the people what to do, and the people actually listened because they trust there leaders. As apposed to our leaders who played golf for a few more days before finaly cutting his five week vaction short by a day or two. so any guesses as to what country this could be?

Its Cuba.

Well the Mayor of New Orleans agrees with me

But i guess im just some raving leftist that thinks the government is here to help the people so what do i know.

Great Idea

This is one of the most impressive charity gestures Ive seen.
A group that has grown in notorioty due to the Cindy Sheehan cause called is getting people to open their homes to the hurricane victims to give them a place to stay durring clean up. Any person able to do this for a total stranger is a hero in my book. I dont have a spare room, Im broke and im probably about 1400 miles away so im not sure how much I can do. I can't even donate blood right away because I did recently and I cant again for 112 days. Im also a big fan of because they seem a bit more realistic when they pick there battles than some othe leftist organizations. Instead of trying to collect donations and send them to people they are simply asking there members to donate to the Red Cross. which is a simple and very effective way to do it as long as your not doing it just to get your name in the paper. The Red Cross is one of the great charities that is not only trying to help, but really does and in many different ways. So to anyone in the area of New Orleans with a spare bed, check out the link above. This isnt a time for partisanship this is a time to help your fellow man simply because they need your help.

New Orleans

yeah so with all the problems in New Orleans, I still have to point out that much of this could have been avoided if the evacuation had gone better. hate to say I told you so. It sounds like things are getting pretty nasty down there. I hope everything works out for those still there, but I can help but think about how much of this may have been avoidable. so it goes.
