A cousin of mine just sent me a rather disturbing E-mail. It was Robin Williams "plan" of thing to fix at home and abroad. I had to send an immediate response. here is the email followed by my response, I did remove my cousins name for confidentiality. It was originally formatted better but youll still get the point.

What we need now is for ourUN Ambassador to stand up andrepeat this message.Robin Williams' plan...(Hard toargue with this logic!)"I see a lot of people yelling for peacebut I have not heard of a plan forpeace. So, here's one plan."1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave.We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be availableto anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.6) The US will make a strong effortto become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or givento the army. The people who needit most get very little, if anything.9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE....Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?"The Statue of Liberty is no longersaying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." I need to respond to this. And you will see that I took the time to read this so please read my response entirely.If you question the validity of anything I have writen let me know and I will send further Information. Im going to respond to each point in the order they were presented.1) If we don't wan to be seen as the hypocritical imperialists of the world then apologizing for attacking the soverign nation of Iraq would be a good start, I realize that Williams said this sarcasticly but that parts a good idea2) Removing our Troops from foreign countries is a great idea, a few more along the border would be ok, but if we sold off all of our bases and reduced our rediculous military budget then maybe we could work on more important issues. And if you think that we need to continue the arms race so that China doesnt surpass us then just realise that the US spends almost as much on its millitary as the rest of the world COMBINED. China is going to bury us econimicly because we keep borrowing money from them to pay for our wars.3+4)As far as the illegal aliens go just remeber illegal aliens have always been a problem, as any indian. We are all Illegal aliens, how are we going to stop the latest ones. If we always had the closed door policy that this is suggesting then none of us would be here. As far as the "we dont need any more taxi drivers or 7-11 owners" the imigrant from Pakistan have been one of the most successful imigrant groups to ever reach our shores. 5) As for "no students over 21" have you never heard of grad school? We are rapidly falling behind in the education race. India a nation we refer to as 3rd world has a better college system than the United States in many fields. 6)Becoming energy self-sufficient is an excellent plan that many people have been working at for years and bush has tried to block several times. As far as drilling for Oil in Alaska, seriously why? havent we done enough to destroy the environment. There isnt enough Oil there to dramaticly change oil prices or extend how long we can survive on oil. A much more sensible alternative to start with is BioDiesel and then Ethanol for gas vehicles.7) Offering OPEC $10 a barrel and expecting them to cave first, think about it if we stopped getting oil then it would take quite some time for them to run out of money yet our entire infastrucure would colapse in relatively short order.8) And not helping people who are in need, well thats just heartless. 9) what have you got against the UN? im not really sure what there is to dislike about an international organization to try to prevent wars and atrocities.10) this is just silly, we are called the Ugly Americans because of our policies of screwing other nations with no regard for anythign but profits. beauty is more than skin deep. As for the english part, once again a lot of our ancestor couldn't speak english when they got here either, if we don't at least give them time to learn then we are simply hypocrites.I hope this does not represent your true feeling as I would hate to see another wonderful child grow up in a home without tolerance for others. Please don't teach xenophobia and hatred to the next generation there is nothing to be gained. I know that your husband can be pesimistic of others but I really though you were above that. Please just think about what this list is really promoting.
