More Good Times

I had a nice weekend. This might seem like a rant because it starts with the bad shit but actually it's just chronological.

Well, friday I was quite pissed at Marque, we had very vaguely made plans. I wanted her to meet a couple of my friends that I thought she would like. She had something going on from 6-8 which is shitty but we could still do something. Admittedly I had only said that we would do something and while a few ideas were thrown around nothing was the least bit confirmed. Then it all came to be a fairly mute point as one of people I wanted her to meet was falling asleep after getting up way too early for his job. But I think I was still right to be mad cause it was left that she would call when she was free. So at 8:30 I sent a text and nothing. Then at like 9:15 I sent another saying that I was on my way. I told her I was mad. It wasn't the first time this had happened. Actually it's happened pretty much every time we've mad plans ahead of time. Before I was hurt, this time I was mad. Not only did it insult me but my friends were sitting around waiting too. Sure they had to cancel anyway but when I found that out, I told her. She understood. She gets really mad when other people do that to her. Who doesn't? Saturday was much better, much much better.

Marque had to work till 7, she works at the other end of town and had to get ready so it was about 8 when my friends and I picked her up and went to Horigan's. I've mentioned this place before, and Marque and I have been there together before, but it's probably my favorite restaurant. Minor problem, there was a band playing and they didn't have any open tables when we got there. Ok second part isn't a big deal, we are all very comfortable bellying up to the bar, except we were fairly hunger. The part that sucked is that being four wide at a bar with a band playing meant that we couldn't talk and my plan of having my friends meet my... Marque was thrown out the window. I paused in the last sentence because while I definitely think of her as my girlfriend, we haven't actually used that terminology yet. Anyway we got seated and soon we were chatting and laughing and generally having a good time. Some jokes were made about the fact that my friends both got the prime rib special while Marque got a vegi-burger and I had a freaking spinach salad, which was delicious. She was a vegan back in the day but sure isn't anymore, I got the salad half because my friend made a joke about who eats a spinach salad, I told him I was thinking about it and he didn't believe me. Soon we finished our food and wanted to get away from the band. We headed back in the direction of Marque and my friends houses, ended up at a little bar where they loved us because we were half the age of anyone else there, and half of us were cute girls. We ad one and decided to keep going. Then we hit up the bar I often describe as my friends other living room. The girl I had been messing around with before was there, I can't recall what name I had given her for this blog, and I was a nervous she would cause a scene but she didn't at all. I spoke to her in passing and she didn't say a word to Marque which I thank her for. That reminds me I should say something to her, she knows about Marque so I'm sure she knew what was going on. Anyway we didn't stay there too long. We stopped by Marque's to grab a little scotch she's had for a while at which point my now somewhat drunk friend had to ask where I found a girl that drinks Guinness and Scotch? I told you she's awesome. Then went to my friends for a little bit but soon he was asleep, again he goes to work stupid early, like before 6am. So I sat and hung out with two of my favorite women, Marque and.... I guess I've never given her a pseudo-anonymous name on here, hmmm.... I'll call her Peggy till I come up with something better. We watched some SNL and then Marque and I went back to her house.

Sunday was decent. We had breakfast at a local diner. She had to meet with her friend/boss who she seems to really want me to meet, but not yet. I'm not sure why but from the descriptions I've heard he sounds like a very strange character so I'm not in too big a rush. After that she had made plans with Other guy, who she says is definitely just a friend now but she hasn't seen him in a few weeks and feels kinda bad about that. Plus there's a basketball game on and sports are pretty much the reason they're friends. He bailed and she ended up sick. She's been sick a lot lately. I hope she isn't allergic to me. So I went to comfort her for a bit. Other guy eventually called and wanted to hang out, but for some reason he didn't want to hang out with me. Ha. I guess he's really competitive so I'm sure he's in no rush to meet the guy who beat him at something far more important than sports with a prize better than any trophy. Marque in my arms.

Update:
Almost forgot to mention that my friends really liked Marque. This was no surprise, other than I know I tend to look at women through rose colored glasses and it was great to have two good friends confirm that she's as awesome as I've been telling them she is. Plus these friends know that I can easily fall for a pretty face and so I trust them to tell me if I'm making a big mistake. Maybe thats fucked up, to want your friends to judge your relationship but seriously I'll take the advice. But they like her and she liked them which is awesome. In my book a girlfriend is first and foremost a friend. I've known people who keep their relationships separate from their friends and it never works. Of course sometimes thats because they don't want their friends mentioning their other relationships but thats a whole other issue. The important thing is that we all had a blast of saturday, hopefully the first of many fun occasions.

Live Update:
She wants me to go meet her and the kiddo for some grub, gotta get a lil work done so I can sneak out a half an hour early.

Football Game

So we watched the first half of the game, got bored and started watching Family Guy, then we flipped back for the last 35 seconds of the game only to realize that we had missed the part where it actually turned into a game. Oh well. It was still a great weekend because I finally got to meet a lady I had been talking to a little bit online. Turns out she's a friend of a friend, she's got two adorable little girls who absolutely love me, if only adults were so easy to read. I gotta say that having two hyper children in the room does take the edge of meeting someone for the first time, theres no awkward silences when there's hardly ever a moment not filled with laughter. I guess I need to give her an online nickname for anonymities sake. I'll call her Marque, for reasons that may become clear later on. I'll give her a new nickname when I think of something cuter. The worst but most endearing part of friday night was when she was trying to get the girls to bed, and being a friday they have a tradition of all cuddling up on the futon together, so I couldn't really stay to chat after the kids went to sleep. So she was tucking them in and saying goodbye to me when the older of the two, she's five, started balling. What are you supposed to do when there's a five year old crying and begging you to stay the night? We joked that I'd explain it to her grandma in the morning when she came to pick up the kids that I had stayed to be with the five year old. Probably wouldn't help matters. So I left with the promise that I would return, and returning was about all that I could think of until I did return on Sunday for the super bowl. Of course now I am sitting here thinking how I'd like to see her again but it might be a few days, I've got classes. Maybe it was just because the kids kept the atmosphere so fun that it was just easy and natural to just chill with this beautiful woman I had just met, or maybe theres something pretty special there. I'm trying not to jump to the second conclusion too quickly, because I know I want to. Back to friday night, she loves to read, which obviously is cool with me. So she gave me a book, Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. Being the simple bastard that I am, I read the book before I went back to see her on Sunday. On sunday she went ice skating with the girls and some guy and his kid. I was hoping this was a play date for the kids but she said they had quasi-dated. I'm not sure how to take that but it's part of why I'm trying to hold back a bit. To confuse matters even more she gave me another book before I left on Sunday, Bound to Love, which is a series of short stories about bondage, fairly graphic too. This probably falls into the TMI category of my few readers, but I've never tried the whole BDSM thing, which isn't to say I won't try. So like I said I'm really not sure how to take all of that (is it normal to know about a womans fetishes before you've even kissed her?) but I guess I'll just assume she's playing the field, seeing whats out there. Which is fine, it's not like I haven't done a little of that myself recently. At the same time a co-worker told me about a friend who sounds like quite the catch, but I don't her to hold off until I know more about Marque. Hell last night I even got a late night phone call from a drunk somebody practically begging for sex, and I said no. Theres a few reasons why I said no but one of them was Marque. I don't think I've ever been asked flat out for sex before and said no. Hmm... Anyway Marque is pretty chill, I hope things progress.

One Track Mind

This blog talks about all sorts of issues, politics, religion, science, music, books and generally whatever is going on in the world at the time. Or thats what I talk about when the only thing I really care about isn't active in my life. I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who reads this regularly that if theres any glimmer of hope for a relationship in my life then it pretty much consumes my thoughts. What can I say I love women. Things are still a little odd with the KSGF, and I have no idea if she's figured out that I have a blog where I vent everything in my life that she can get to from my myspace page, but right now I'm hoping she hasn't noticed. I do like her, but I just don't foresee that ever being a really serious relationship. She can't be too mad about that considering she still lives with her ex, is planning on buying a car with him and even told me that she suspects she'll end up marrying the dude at some point even though she doesn't think she wants to. I think she just wants to play the field a little before settling down, I would think that if you married the first person you were ever with then you would always be curious what else was out there. Thats not why I hope she doesn't read this.

The reason I hope she doesn't read this is because while I've stopped fooling around with the one girl from my study group, and I stopped crushin' on the other one, and I'm trying not to have sex with the booty call anymore there is still this other girl from school. Shes really cute, but she's very religious. Basically we had a class together and I thought she was cute, then we had a minor little project together in class and I thought she was annoying, now I know she was messing with me even then. Then I was looking for someone else from school online and found her instead. I said hello and we started talking, but based on her myspace I thought she was some sort of fundamentalist but I figured we could at least have some interesting conversations. I slowly realized that shes very spiritual but totally agrees that organized religion causes many many problems. We actually agree on quite a bit with that stuff despite coming at the questions for exact opposite directions. Then it turned out that she is a very sexual person, which I don't for a moment mean as any sort of insult or calling her a slut or anything like that. She is a committed person, she just likes sex. Some people like to have sex on occasion others want to fuck morning noon and night, theres no right or wrong to how horny you are its just a scale that you fall on somewhere. The important thing as far as that goes is that I think were at a pretty similar spot on that scale. But none of that really mattered because like I said, there was a mutual attraction but she wouldn't date me cause of the religious stuff, so she started dating someone else who was in a similar place spiritually. This happened early on and I still figured we were too different so I wasn't concerned with her relationships. Then as I got to know her I slowly became interested in her, and at the same time were both pretty open and she told me about her relationship and she was venting so she just told me all the bad shit. For such a new relationship there sure was a lot to vent and everything she said raised huge red flags that she was being used by this guy. That wasn't a good spot for me, I like her and she knows it, then she tells me about her relationship problems. I did eventually tell her that I though she was being used but only after much coaxing. This probably sounds pretty normal, I guess I haven't mentioned that theres been a ton of sexual jokes and comments going back and forth between us. Talk about favorite positions, what sort of underwear I wear, size of the bed, even asking for nude photos. She said she was a huge flirt and that she liked that I could talk about that shit without getting fixated on it. So we said plenty of dirty shit without thinking it was serious, and it wasn't. Then about a week ago we watched a movie and so my surprise we ended up kissing a little but we both agreed that it couldn't go too far. Then after I went home she said she regretted it and how she loved the other dude. I said well I wanted you before and you knew it, I still want you and you know it so I don't see how anything has changed. We kept talking as friends and then the other day she said she has a feeling her BF is using her for sex. All I could really say is that I had felt that way for a while. I did start thinking that after we had made out and shit she said it was wrong because of her BF, and not because of the religious crap. Previously she had made it very clear that this was a hurdle I was not going to clear. I don't know if thats still the case or not, I hope not.

I must say that I realized a little bit ago with all my hi jinx when ever I would mention the hot but religious girl they would tend to assume I was just trying to sleep with her. And every time I've smiled and said, actually I think I like that one.

Theres still the very real possibility that she still won't date me even if shes single again, but I'm not going to ask. Then there is still the current KSGF (in case you didn't read the other post, thats Kinda Sorta Girl Friend) and the whole thing with this other girl could be nothing so I don't want to throw this away over a great big maybe. It's pretty dirty to keep her on the hook while I test the waters on the side but hey I've been the nice guy for a long time and if I have to do some asshole shit then so be it. Plus like I've said even the KSGF might be just testing the water with me while intending to get back with her ex so I really don't feel that bad about it.

Now you can see why I hope KSGF doesn't read this. I do like her, I just don't know if I'll ever really love her. The other one, who I still need to make up an anonymous name for, it's been a challenge trying not to fall in love with.

Emo No Mo

I'm just an idiot when it comes to the ladies, as we all know. Oh well. No point getting all bent outta shape about it. No time to worry about that, I've got finals and it looks like I'm going to head to DC for the inauguration. I'm taking the one from my study group that I've mentioned being interested in. Whats weird about that is that after she said she wanted to go she mentioned being back together with her ex. That should probably tell me something about her interest level in me. I'm not too worried about her BF, she doesn't seem to think all that highly of him. But that is a little weird right? I'm going out with both the girls from my study group tomorrow night after our last final. Or in my case final then office christmas party then out with the ladies. I'll be curious to see if she brings the BF along. I've also realized that I haven't spent that much time with her and I really hope she doesn't annoy the fuck out of me. We have way way more fun studying than can possibly be normal but a big part of that is the two girls just laugh their asses off over anything which gets me laughing too. Guess I'll know a little more after Thursday. Ugh off to another final, this time history.

Peace!

Secrets / Family / Rant

I've just read a bunch of stuff at Post Secret and I cant help but think of one for myself. Guess its not really a secret but here goes.

I wonder if my friends know how depressed I am?
But I'm sure they know the reason.

I wonder if my family even knows the reason.

Sorry "D" I'm feelin' a little emo today. It'll pass.
It's not just rejection that gets me down, its the fact that I never even get a fucking chance. Ok the one thats driving me insane at the moment is stupid because I knew it was nothing, that it could never be anything and I still let myself get attached and subsequently hurt. I'm just desperately sick of being single and it's tearing me up inside. I know that without self confidence I'm never going to get anywhere with women, this makes total sense, but what if I really don't like myself because I don't know who the fuck I am? I think of the advice of looking at the persons family before getting into a long term relationship, I think of how great my own family is, but of how I wonder what they would think of anyone I brought to meet them (they would probably love anyone I brought to meet them), then I wonder when they'll get to meet me. My family is awesome they really are, but for me they are the most judgmental people in my life. I'm never comfortable around them because I always feel the need to put up a front. I try to engage them in my life and they look at me like I'm crazy. I was the manager for my friends band for a few years and I didn't really expect them to show but my fucking sister had the audacity to not only blow me off, but to blow me off by going to a bar a block away. After being genuinely pissed at her for that stunt she finally showed up for one a bit later on, late, and didn't even see the band. Which wasn't the point, I didn't expect any of them to like the band, I just wanted them to be a part of my life. Because they have no idea who I am. My sister recently wrote part of a book about No Child Left Behind. I tried to ask her about it, she gave pathetic little answers and had no interest in talking about it with me. Then she has to tell me about all the shit I need to do to fix my life, the part about getting insurance for the car she gave me is fine, but as far as always telling me what to do with my life, go fuck yourself, maybe if you had any idea who I am you'd have the right to talk but you don't so go fuck yourself. The worst part is that she gives good advice and knows how much I'm capable of, but she always says it in a manner that just makes me want to defy her, she makes me want to go in the completely wrong direction just to prove that I can.

Damn I'm a simple bastard. I was getting pissed as I wrote parts of that. Then the lovely lady in the office next door, the one I've got a thing for who really is gorgeous and sweet and funny and has very similar interest but doesn't seem the least bit interested in me and I'm going to accept that, came over to talk to me about our new intern, who by the way is also really cute, but shes a freshmen, meaning awfully young. Anyway the main guy at work is a little bit of a creep, which suits me fine as theres usually cute women here, is currently having a little talk with the intern concerning her affect. It's her first day and all she needs to do is observe, shut the fuck up dude! So she's probably going to be...
Ok now I actually talked to them and I hope I put her at ease a bit. Anyway the simple bastard comment is to the fact that a beautiful woman talking to me is pretty much all it took to make me, maybe not happy, but considerably happier. I don't know anymore. I've got to finalize things with the girl from study group that I'm not interested in. I'm pretty sure we are on the same page, er maybe not. I was just warned that I need to talk to her.

Shit I gotta go.

I'm going to get an Anonymous bitch-slap

I did it again. I fell into the exact same situation that we've been talking about. I thought I was doing better, but when I see it slipping away I fall into desperation to try to cling to something that was never there. Which is bad enough, it's even worse when the only play book you have is the one "anonymous" called me out for, the nice-guy routine which is the worst play book ever. I need to burn that play book.

The first step is knowing when to admit defeat. Ok that's not even close to the first step but its the first one I'm thinking of now. I need to learn that you can't try to force someone to love you, it doesn't work that way and you only insult them and disrespect them. I can say this all I want but somehow I need to act upon this.

The real first step is that when a chick says, "were just friends" she probably means it. If shes says she just wants to be friends, and I still want to be more than friends I need to just walk away. Every time I try to ease my way in via the friend route its a fucking disaster. Everyone knows that route is a disaster, its an act of desperation and the one thing I should have learned by now is that desperate is not attractive, never.

And finally. Be cocky. Not totally arrogant and annoying, but have confidence in myself. Just go for it, trust your wit and humor. People like me because I'm free, open and funny, when I like someone I get so nervous about saying the wrong thing that I'm just not fun anymore. Which is why I tend to drink too much, it blocks my inhibitions and those fuckin guys always get in my way. Now lets just see if I can actually stick to this plan.

The Ladies That Confound Me

Well as "anonymous" pointed out, I'm finally coming to grips with my real problem with women, my own insecurities. And man has shit changed. First there was a friend of a friend, I can't recall for sure but I might have mentioned her in the post about halloween weekend. There was a whole bunch of drama going on and so in order to break away I just went over and kissed this girl for a bit. We've hung out a few times with mutual friends, and she later told me that I was the only guy there that could have gotten away with that. She was a whole lot of fun, the sex was quite spectacular but for me it was just sex and even though she claimed it wasn't anything more for her either, I knew it was so I ended it before I caused her anymore pain. The reality is it wasn't quite as altruistic as that, she has her share of issues, but I'm not going to air that shit here. Especially cause she'll probably read this. As I told you before, you're a good shit and you someone who can love you like you deserve.

Then theres this girl from school, I've been helping her a lot with history. She was one of two in my study group, she was the one that really needed help. I've had a feeling for a while that she was interested in me but it wasn't mutual, shes a nice girl but she doesn't really do it for me. Unfortunately this whole time I've have feelings for the other girl in the study group, at first it wasn't a big deal because she had a BF, at which point I'm not trying to flirt and I'm far less awkward. Everyone I'm not hitting on loves me. I guess that proves I'm still not entirely without insecurities, oh well I'm heading in the right direction. I really can't tell whats going on with the girl I'm interested in, but I'm fairly sure its not much. But then there's the other one. We spent quite a bit of time on school work so we became friends, and then I was bored one night and invited her over to watch a movie. Then last weekend it was my roomies 21st b-day so I was heading to the bar and felt like I should bring someone. I tried a bunch of people and she was the only one who could come out. So we all go to a few bars have a few too many drinks and pretty soon it's morning and I'm not alone. Umm... Ok, no big deal, nothing much happened were both still clothed. But then she tells me she's never kissed a guy before. Woah. I didn't see that one coming. So we've hung out a few more time since and well it's been considerably harder for her to concentrate on history thats for sure. Theres some issues with this, first off I'm just not that interested in her. Second she's heading for school in a month. I guess my thought is that if she just want to go from learning about history to learning about sex so she doesn't head off to college a virgin then ok, thats fine. But I really don't think that she can keep herself from getting attached. Maybe its wrong for me to even fuck her if I'm not interested, I don't know. I'll also admit that I'm telling her I don't want to get serious because she's leaving for school soon, and not because I'm not into her. So similar to the first woman, this might get broken off sooner than later in order to save a bit of heartache, for her, I'm not feeling any attachment issues.

And then out of left field there's this girl from another class. She's really attractive and fun to talk to, but she's really religious which is more of an issue for her than me. When I first saw her myspace page and it had a very little on it and what was there was almost entirely religious I had a feeling she was going to be an annoying fundie. Man was I wrong, shes actually a pretty cool chick. She has a BF at the moment but they just started dating and it doesn't sound like its going to last. I hate to say it and I could be very wrong but just from what she's said I think that she has a BF and he has a fuck buddy. I hope I'm wrong because she deserves better than that but considering she said they met online, and stripped for each other on web cam before they met and had sex the second time they met, and she said all he ever seems to talk about is sex, including pretty explicit text messages at random times through out the day, I don't think I'm wrong to assume that he's just after he body. Which I can't blame him for, she's got a great body, but shes got an interesting mind too and she should be with someone who can appreciate that as well. She said that she thinks I'm really cool and she likes talking to me but being an atheist is a big problem for her. I know she wants a serious relationship and I think she'd be better off with someone who may not view the world quite the same but can appreciate her mind as well as her body rather than with a guy who at least claims religion while not treating her right, of course I could be a little bit biased here.

Then theres the girl from work, shes still cute funny smart and have a ton in common, but I don't think shes interested. No time to worry about that, cause I have to go get some lunch with her.

Bwahahahahaha!!!!!

The Aliance of the radical liberal socialist demi-muslim's has finally taken control!!!!! Bwahahahahah!!!
Feel the wrath of a decent living for all!
Redistribution of wealth, fuck the rich!
Peace!
Other evil un-american shit.....
Uh....

BTW. Wow,.... shitty timing. just at the moment when I was going to say I've neer been happier Rob's QOMU says, "Ted Stevens is winning..." Ugh... Well I'm still fuckin' happy right now, and maybe ever so slightly tipsy. Oh yeah and I'm at Rob's house. Hello Rob 4 feet away!
I'm still only half convinced that I'm going to wake up in a moment to my alarm saying November 4th, this all being simply a dream.
And to all a good night.

P.S. Obama's good. He reminds me what a president is supposed to sound like. And I'm not sure what more I can say about that.
And if that McCain had been in this election it would have been a much tougher race. That's the McCain I once respected. Oh well.

So much to say

Hey in case you haven't noticed its Election Day! But I'll get into that later so its at the top of the page.

Das Halloween

A fuckin' roller coaster of a Halloween. I'll write this up real brief cause I have a lot to say and not much time. First off I went as a PEZ Dispenser, or specifically an Obama PREZ Dispenser. Corny, yes, but it was amusing and apparently liked by enough. I threw a small Obama sticker on the back just to make it clear it wasn't meant to insult our next president. I got one snide comment about the sticker, oh well. This all went on at a big party at the holiday inn, where I met up with some friends I haven't seen in a really long time. One downside to my costume, its hard to pull a beautiful woman in close to dance when you're wearing a cardboard box. Still had a blast, danced like a fool and then with the help of my friends I won the Most Original Costume Contest. The judges narrowed it down to three then at the end of the night the crowd picks the winner. My friends were like a religious cult band, they could have been an SNL skit, but they were the only ones of the top three still there. So the MC told Where's Waldo and the PREZ dispenser to come up. My friends actually got booed by the crowd, I'm not sure why but they were out. So they screamed for me and I jumped around like an idiot and got the loudest cheers. Pretty sweet. Won a hundred bucks too! So that much of the night was great.

Then went back to my friends party where everyone was pretty drunk, and apparently feeling frisky. Three of my female friends are on a couch with another girl laying across them repeatedly lifting her shirt for the amusement of all. Pictures were taken and nipples were sucked. Almost all of us found it hilarious, the one who didn't will become significant later on. Another female friend decided it would be a good idea to make out with most of the guys at the party, I can't say it was bad idea. I have always mentioned that my friends are a little crazy right? It was all in good fun. We find a couple of sober drivers and head back to where we started the night (I didn't mention that part as it was just getting costumes ready), as we left in high spirits a spotlight shines on us from the porch of the house we're leaving, telling us to move along. We shout back naturally, then the light goes out, oh thats not our friend, thats a cop. He told us to get moving. I did think it was odd that the crowd of drunks piling into cars and the cops didn't even ask if we had sober drivers, which we did. Apparently in the other car the shenanigans continued between one friends wife and another friends girlfriend, again most just thought it was funny, most. That stuff continued until two wifes decided to kiss each other while siting on my lap. Thats when one husband finally flipped out, ironically my lap wasn't the problem. My friends trust me, shit one friend told me that if he walked in and I was in bed with his girl he'd still assume nothing was going on. They've probably just seen me hit on women and know how bad I am at it. But anyway he flipped out and started screaming, then it gets weird, another friend was flipping out on the other wife who responded with even more screaming. We assumed the cops would be on their way by this point. At this point the two that were really screaming I wasn't concerned about, they fight when they drink, and they (she) had drank a LOT. The important thing about their fights is that they're just verbal. So we all thought we had seen the drama of the evening, it was probably 4 am by this point so I head for the couch and the others head to bed. I'm not sure I should really tell this next part, but I think I've implied enough already that if I don't tell it you'll assume worse than it was. I don't like airing dirty laundry like this but this blog is how I vent, and this was some very heavy shit and I need to get it out.

There's still yelling from downstairs as I turn off the light. As my head hits the couch I hear, "Help!" Oh fuck. I run down the stairs, think twice, run back up the stairs to get my other friend, and run back down, and mind you I don't run. I'm ashamed of two things that happen here, one is that when we got to the door we hesitated, it wasn't for more than a few seconds but I'm still ashamed that it wasn't instant. We go in, and he's screaming at us. Something gets thrown and the glass lamp shade smashes on the floor. The glass under my bare feet is no where near as sharp as the razors edge were standing on, I really and truly expected to get punched at this point as we backed him up towards where his wife was crying on the floor. It should be clear to anyone who reads this that by nature I am not a fighter, but I've got an easy 60 lbs on him and more importantly he's still recovering from a badly broken leg. At the same time I know there was a time when he got in a lot of fights and I know that if this goes down it won't be pretty for anyone, but I can honestly say that my own well being wasn't being factored into the equation. Far too much adrenaline coursing through my veins to be worried about petty things like that. When my friend, his wife, is crying on the floor with a fat lip the only thought in my head is, "Do I kill him?" My life has never had me in a situation like this before, it's common enough in movies that you think about it and you think you know how you'll react. But when suddenly its a close friend who you're expecting to clock you it's a very different thing. If he'd threw a fist then it was a wrap, but as long as he didn't my pacifist side kept me held back, barely. I'm so glad that I hadn't drank very much and was able to take control of the situation, I eventually got everyone calmed down a bit. Got him to sit on the couch, she went upstairs. I probably reacted correctly, but I have to admit that friend or not, a part of me wishes I had beaten the shit out of him.

Eventually they calmed down a bit and she agrees to go back downstairs, and I went with them. I laid on the love seat with two pitbulls and listened to way way more than any friend should about marital problems coming from their room, but there was no more screaming. There was more I could add but I think you get the point. I was so angry that I skipped what was probably an awesome Halloween party the next night.

So that was my roller coaster, or swan dive I suppose, of a night. Hope everyone else had a fun Halloween. Oh and if the person who this is about happens to read this and has a problem with it, fuck you don't slap your wife, and I'll probably see ya later.

Much Betta

A few days ago I did a bit of bitching, woe is me and all that shit. Lets face it I go through my swings like everyone, theres good times and there are bad, and yeah maybe my swings are more severe than my life really justifies. My life is pretty damn stable, but I'm not. Maybe I just want change so badly that my emotions swing so it seems like my life is changing even when its not. But who cares about that Freudian bullshit? I basically said recently that I'm going to stop being a little emo bitch and ya know what, I feel a whole lot better. I also took a couple days off work, I said I was sick, which was true, of course it was the sort of sickness that has more to do with the chemicals of the brain (not added ones) than viruses or bacteria but so what? The important thing is that I feel better now. I will admit that much of my recent downward spiral was the new girl at work, shes quite easy to fall for. But I fucked that up real quick as is my M.O. and then partially because of that I was down all last week and hardly spoke to her or the other lady friends at the office. I wasn't trying to pay it cool or any of that I just had the distinct impression that she didn't want to talk to me, and seeing as she shares an office with the other girl I usually bullshit with I was pretty bored at work which just left me with more introspective wallowing. So what happens today when I finally head back to work? She stands at my door for half an hour bullshitting with me. Then I kicked her out saying I had to get some work done. So yeah I think I'll stick with being slightly cold, which I don't think is a bad thing. I think most people do it, I've been too open, too easy, and it's no good for anyone. It's not the way I would like things to be, I wish we could all be honest with each other and have life have fairytale endings but this is reality and I'm realizing that Machiavelli was right, there's the way things should be and the way things are. If I want to be happy in the real world then I need to wake up to that reality and stop being so damn nice all the time. Hmmm... maybe I'll try some new pick-up lines.

Mood Swing

Well we just had some random kid (late teens maybe early 20's) come into the office to ask to use the phone, he calls his mom and is crying. The secretary motions me to stand near-by I'm not paying much attention prior to this so I figure she's worried about him flipping out or something, just assume she wanted me as security. Nope, she then asked if our crisis counselor was still here and I said he just left, turns out he had asked his mom to get him before he kills himself. At my agency we take that pretty seriously... except she was waving me to help. Fuck that. Thats not really my forte' to begin with, but I'm pretty much emotionally blank today and I really really don't think I could have helped the situation. So you just got outta jail and went to see your girl friend only to find out that she has a new boyfriend? Kiss my ass, at least you had a girlfriend. I'm older than you, smarter than you and probably an all around better person than you (I did say I was going to keep the arrogance) and I'm perpetually single so go fuck yourself if you're looking for empathy here. Live, die, whatever, just remember that suicide fucks up you whole family and is a total dick move, and seeing as you're crying to your mom right now, I'm guessing you're family matters to you.

But then I got a couple of comments on here from Kristi who has apparently spent about 2 hours (as of the last comment) reading my blog. It's funny but it actually cheered me up a little. Apparently my writing has brought a little joy to someone I don't even know, so that's pretty cool.

So Kristi, I want to say thanks. Oh and I told you I was a simple bastard.

Just Fuck It A Little

Yeah I was in a bad mood and I can see why you guys thought I meant that I hate everything or whatever. I didn't mean that I was going to be cold and detached from my friends, although I have realized that I really can't verbalize my problems with more than a very few friends, and they aren't even my closest of friends. Plus not surprisingly I can't say anything to my guy friends. I should make it clear that my friends are the shit and they'd listen if I talked, its me, I just can't do it. So when I have a bad day I do what any man is supposed to do with his problems, drowned them in a pool of alcohol. Is it the right answer? Hell no. But sometimes it easier to just forget. To let it all go, and good old fashion alcohol seems to be the best way I've found to get my brain to just shut up for a while. So when I said fuck it all I really mean is that I'm going to try to stop letting myself fall for every woman who speaks with me. I'm never going to be truly cold, well it's possible, there really was a time when I hurt people because I'd say whatever I wanted with no concern for others feelings because I just didn't think anyone cared enough about my opinions to be hurt by them.

But I can say anything I want, it doesn't mean I'm going to be able to follow through with any of it. I'd like to find a middle ground between the two poles of me, I don't want to be a cold bastard, but I also don't want to be the softie that gets crushed on a weekly basis. School is helping with that, test coming up hey would anyone like to study? It's just a coincidence that I always seem to study with ladies, usually the cute ones. Plus it's the perfect way to get to sit around and bullshit with a chick without any pretense. The fact that I'm one of the top students in every class also means that the cute girls are happy to study with me.

So I guess that just like the stock market, I had a bit of a fall, but I've rebounded a bit. Now I'm thinking that I just need to find that happy medium between the cold arrogant bastard, and the warm push-over, maybe thats what they refer to as cool. I might hang on to the arrogance though, humility gets you know where.

Fuck It All

Maybe it's time for me to go back to the way I once was, indifferent towards everyone. Cold and alone hurts, but in love with everyone and alone hurts even more. At least when I was cold and bitter behind my wall I could pretend that it was my choice to keep everyone else out. With the wall gone it becomes painfully clear that my wall wasn't keeping them out, they had no interest in climbing over.

Friday's Debate

Hey guess what? I'm late getting to this!
Yeah I watched some of the debate on friday, well the TV was on and turned to that station the whole time but we didn't necessarily watch it all. Ok so maybe just maybe we tried to turn it into a drinking game, but we screwed up at the start. We weren't thinking about the fact that it was a debate not a stump speech, so we picked the wrong drinkin' words. We chose "Hope, POW (or anything related), and Change." Had this been the conventions we'd have been rocked. But it was a debate so it didn't work that well, we later chose "taxes" which was much better. In the end I was a bit drunk, and I had watched the debate, so all in all a pretty good day.

Oh as for the substance of the debate, well from my not so sober perspective, which might be a good way to look at things from the vantage of the "average american" I thought McCain did better than I expected, but Obama still whipped his ass pretty good. I did find it interesting that Obama regularly looked at McCain to address him, but McCain gave fleeting glances at most towards Obama. I'm not going to psychoanalyze that but I'm sure it means something, and I'm sure it's not good.

Anybody else get drunk and watch the debates? Anyone else know how to party? woo!

A Nice Weekend

Went to the Irish Festival this weekend, had a blast. Got there late so I was only able to knock back Guinness from like 3 - 11, thats three hours of beer that I... probably didn't need.

I also had a nice little date. It's a weird story of how I met her, but the important thing is that she's really nice, smart, well read and a bit odd. Oh and cute too! I said little date because I did say we were just going as friends, but I'm pretty sure she realizes thats BS. We went up to Watkins Glen and hiked the gorge, over the summer a friend told me about going with his kids and it made me want to go up there. I hadn't been since I was a kid. Anyway the weather was perfect and we just walked and talked a bit. It was funny, there were fairly long silences, but I don't think they were awkward silences, just times when neither of us felt like talking. At least I hope she didn't think they were of the awkward variety. So I'm trying not to make a big deal out of this, but she is quite likable. I'm sure this won't be the last time I mention her, so I might have to give her a code name, I will call her Mona.

I doubt she will read this (at this point kinda hope she doesn't), but if she does, she'll get it.

myHave a good one everybody!

Weekend and the Continuing Man-Crush

fHad a pretty decent weekend, Labor Day, a day I'd rather go to work. Yeah okay big props to the folks of the labor movement who brought us things like the 40 hour work week, child labor laws, and shit like that. But nowadays labor day means the end of summer and sales at Wal-mart. The irony being all the saps in retail who have to work at those stupid sales on a day specifically meant to give workers a much deserved day off. For me it meant an extra day of sitting around doing nothing, read a bit, ate too much, watched some movies. It's tough to do anything particularly interesting when you don't have a clue how you're going to pay this months bills.

And on to the Man-Crush. I love the Rude Pundit, seriously when I want the most brutally honest take on world events, particularly politics, I start by checking out the Rude Pundit. Part of it is that his analogies are disgusting and hilarious. But the main thing is his uncompromising honesty, he's obviously liberal, and a democrat supporter but when Obama (or previously Hilary) screws up, he tells it. Is he biased? Of course he's biased, but who isn't?

So here a few of his latest that I've enjoyed.
Gustav Doesn't Give a Fuck About Your Anniversaries, Conventions, or Holidays
Regarding Sarah Palin (and one or two other things)
Obama to GOP "Go Fuck Yourselves"
And a very short post I'll repost in its entirety.

A Brief Word on Barack Obama's Speech:
Now, mainstream politically speaking, that's how you beat down an old man.

A Few Things

First off I had my first class in a long time last night. I'm not too worried, although I do need to get into the habit of actually doing my work. Last night was American Federal Government, the professor seems really good, which is especially important because I also have him for my class on Wednesday. I was worried that the class would be mind numbingly boring, and I think the book material might be, but the Prof seems lively and interactive enough that I think it should be fun.

Next up, I want to save this site for a later date. Its a site for Debates between Barry Lynn of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, or AU for short, and Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice or ACLJ, which I believe is the right wing version of the ACLU.

And then theres all the talk about Obama and McCain at some church. I don't care. McCain is not a terrible speaker, as long as no one upsets him he can do quite well, he can even be a pretty funny guy. I haven't seen it but it sounds like McCain won in front of a friendly audience with slightly but importantly different questions. Big fuckin' deal. I'm not really sure what to make of the "Above me pay grade" comment, sounds like avoiding the issue, but I can't really blame him as there is no definitive answer to the question of when does life begin. Although a wise ass like myself might have said, 3.5 billion years ago give or take a few hundred million. Others have speculated that the Pay Grade comment was in reference to god, for obvious reasons I always forget about that option. But again, I don't care, none of this matters the talking heads just need something to talk about and apparently the two wars we're losing, the fighting in Georgia and everything else still doesn't provide enough for them to ramble on about for 24 hours a day every fucking day.

I look forward to hearing the VP picks, and I might even try to watch a little of the convention, but beyond that I'd much rather see these guys on c-span doing there jobs, rather than telling us about the how great they are going to be at the job they don't have yet. Oh well.

Back to School Back to School

to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool! I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight!
- Billy Madison

Yeah so I just got back from getting set up for some college classes. I'm going to be taking three classes, American Federal Government, American History and Psychology. I'm very excited and very nervous. Plus I haven't done my financial aid yet, hope I can actually afford this shit. Eh, thats a worry for another day.

Oh and one more little rant about bloggers POS captcha set-up. Blogger and Myspace are both owned by Goggle, I've almost never gotten the captcha correct the first time on blogger, and I'm not sure I've ever screwed one up on myspace. WTF!?!?!
